AT THE HEART OF BLESSFEST
At the heart of Blessfest is the goal to raise public awareness about animal welfare in our Province and Country in a fun and entertaining way
Those involved in animal rescue and protection are well aware of how necessary changes are to our laws governing animal welfare for every species from domestic pets, to farm animals, marine life, exotics, feral cats and those exploited for entertainment. There are many who work in their own quiet way to help those animals which are not protected and do not have a high public profile. They provide foster homes, shelter, sanctuary, vet care, care and advocate for the forgotten ones. Most do it entirely at their own expense without government subsidy and at great financial burden to themselves leaving neither the time nor the money to promote the work they do.
Each year animal welfare organizations, including local cat and dog rescues, farm sanctuaries and other registered charities, who advocate for animals and maintain high standards of care and concern in a compassionate, ethical and honest manner, are invited to participate at Blessfest. The organizations selected do not receive government funding and depend on donations and volunteers to carry on their work. They are given the opportunity, at no cost, to introduce, raise funds and promote their work in the hopes that by offering them a platform, they will raise public awareness about their mandate and the work they do.
Ultimately it is public awareness which will bring about the change so necessary to protect those who can not speak for themselves. It is also a wonderful way for children to learn about animals.
Form Must Be Submitted by Principal or Head of Organization and not by Volunteers on their behalf
